Exhibition "Patterns of the Latvian soul"

From January 5 to February 25, 2018, the Kuldīga Art House will host an exhibition "Latviskās dvēseles raksti" dedicated to Latvian national costumes and the tradition of the Song and Dance Festival.

"Latviskās dvēseles raksti" is a story about the development of the Song and Dance festival tradition in connection with the formation of the state and our national costumes. The exhibition displays 26 costumes from SENĀ KLĒTS, as well as objects from Latvia's museum collections - photo prints, ethnographic and archaeological objects and images, Latvian symbols, patterns and informative texts.

In 2015, the exhibition was on display at the Five Continents Museum in Munich, at Neimënster Abbey in Luxembourg, as well as in the exhibition hall "Riga Art Space". In 2016, it as displayed in the Cēsis Exhibition House, and between March 9 and April 22, 2018, the exhibition will be in Jelgava.

Put on a national costume and become the guest of honour at the premiere!

Since both heroes of the film "Mērijas ceļojums" have made a great contribution to the preservation of the Latvia's national costume and ethnographic heritage, the film's production assosiation in cooperation with the cinema "Splendid Palace" is announcing a promotion - put on a national costume and attend the film premiere for free!

For those who wish to take advantage of this opportunity:

1) you must be in full national costume;

2) you must inform the organizers beforehand.

Twenty winners will be drawn and receive a confirmation message. Those dressed in national costumes will have a line of honour and, just like other guests, will have a unique opportunity to take a photo by the flag of the Song Festival.

By putting on your national costume and joining a march on May 4, you have the opportunity to demonstrate your belonging to Latvian values and to bring to life the slogan of Latvia's 100th anniversary "I am Latvia" in the most direct and personal way.

Exhibition in honour of the centenary of Latvia

We invite you to get enlightened about the diversity and magnificence of national costumes at our exhibition! By getting to know our national costumes, we have the opportunity to get to know our roots more closely and strengthen our belonging to Latvia. Thanks to the support of RIGAS DOME, we were able to display 60 sets of national costumes from all regions of Latvia. The exhibition was opened on May 11, 2018.
